Alaa Selim

Master's Student

Alaa Selim graduated with her bachelor’s degree in biology with a double minor in political science and film studies from Concordia University in 2018.  She officially joined the lab the proceeding year, where she is developing a biosensor for the detection of decaying food. She investigates and develops cell free protein systems, genetic circuits, and digital microfluidic chips—all of which are integral to the making of biosensors.  In her free time she works with SPE (science policy exchange) a group of university students that advocate for the discourse between scientists and politicians.
